Hi,
Does a dead lock bring the whole instance down?My understanding is that the dead lock`s are automatically cleared by oracle. However I experience that the whole instance goes down when a dead lock exists. Also what are FND locks?.If there are locks on FND will it block the requests from coming through
for processing.
Please advise.
Thanks.

NO!
>My understanding is that the dead lock`s are automatically cleared by oracle.
Correct
>However I experience that the whole instance goes down when a dead lock exists.
I doubt this is reality.
Please post proof the supports the statement above.
>Also what are FND locks?
I don't know & Google does not know either.
What makes you think you have "FND locks"?
A lock is a lock & will prevent other sessions from accessing the locked object.
DEADLOCK is recorded in the alert_SID.log file.
