Convert locally managed system tablespace to Dictionary managed tablespace [message #150081]

Hi All,

Is it possible to convert a locally managed system tablespace to Dictionary managed system tablespace. If possible , then please provide the steps.

which version of Oracle you are using???

It was possible in older versions and i believe with Oracle 9.2 (not sure about the version ) even the system tablespace is made LOCALLY MANAGED .

So Oracle 9.2 onwards , you can not.

[BTW: why do you want to do that even when Oracle has desupported this feature ]

Hi Traun,

I want to create a dictionary managed tablespace on my d.b but my system tablespace is locally managed due to which it is not possible. so ,need a workaround if possible. My d.b is version 9.2.

Reena,

From 9.2 onwards you cannot create dictionary managed tablespace becuase even the system tablespace is locally managed.

But, why do you want to do so ?

Even when i was learning i tried the same stuff and asked the same question on the same forum.

If you really want to then you can test it on some lower version i.e. Oracle 9.1.
