hello everybody...


i want to create a sid. named xyz in my database what is the command for this..?

it this command work

c:\oradim -new -sid xyz

It is the command and if you have tried help from your machine then you would have got everything.

Just write

 oradim 

on your command prompt and it will give you everything.

if i want to create new sid named XYZ in my running database named ABC is it possible....??

which command should i prefer

c:\>oradim -new -sid XYZ
OR
c:\>oradim -new sid XYZ -pfile c:\oracle\oradata\ABC\pfile\init.ora

If you are thinking to rename a database then its a total different concept.

Read the docs for renaming a database.

read the documentation and understand what you are about to do and
also look into utility nid
