hello
my oracle9i server only shutdown using the abort option even with no connection at all to the server , and there is always heavy disk activity when i strat up the server even also with no connection.
plz help is really appreciated

Restart your Machine and then see problem exist or not.

Did you try shutdown immediate? That closes all user sessions and stops the database.

Shutdown abort is a drastic way of stopping your database, and valid cold backups can not taken.

Sometimes, even with shutdown immediate it takes a while to clear out temp, end user activity, and such.

I tell our Operators to wait at least 30 minutes for a shutdown immediate before calling me in the middle of the night.

if the above solutions doesnt solve the problem then you need to see what all processes are running at oracle end and need to trace the issue step / step.

the problem is solved by itself i dont know how , i will check the alert file for any details
