Hi,

How can i find out what date format is set on oracle server

i can query dual

select sysdate from dual;

i will get DD-MON-YY (default)
in v$parameter i have checked isdefault = TRUE then above format but if its false then how can find out below format is set or not

Querying dual will give me the actual value but i want to find out date format.

but if it set something

DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS
OR
DD-MON-YYYY HH12:MI:SS

Then how can i get above format in oracle server to figure it out which one is currently set.

DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS
OR
DD-MON-YYYY HH12:MI:SS
OR
DD-MON-YY
....
..

thanks

Hi,

Try this:

SQL> SELECT *
  2 FROM nls_database_parameters
  3 WHERE parameter LIKE '%DATE%'
  4 /

PARAMETER VALUE
------------------------------ ----------------------------------------
NLS_DATE_FORMAT DD-MON-RR
NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE AMERICAN

Best regards.
