hi..
i have to force the dba allso to enter a password when he connect to database as dba...
how to force the user to enter a password ..when he tries to connect "conn /as sysdba"
.....
i am using 9i oracle on linux...
i am new to dba..please help me..

First, the regular users should be allowed to login as sysdba.
You can do the above only if you are a member of DBA group (UNIX group) or explicityly granted. So only OS user ORACLE should be in DBA group.
