The data captured, processed and stored in the enterprise data warehouse is actually available to executives and decision-makers.
There has been a set of new concepts and tools that have been developed recently that provides key people in an enterprise access to the data they need to make decisions that are responsible for the survival and the success of the enterprise. Bill Inmon framed the term "Data Warehouse" to describe the architecture that enables managers and decision-makers access key data for making business decisions.
When the DW is implemented across an enterprise wide , we could call it as EDW , when it is implemented for a department alone we could call it is as DM.
