I would be very grateful for some help.
I have recently installed an Oracle database (v.9.2.0.1) on my laptop. Everything ran smoothly with the installation. I can connect to the database via sqlplus successfully. However, when I attempt to connect using Forms Builder (v.6.0.8.11.3) I receive the following error message:
ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure
I've searched the web and this forum for possible resolutions but no luck with solving the problem. I have scanned for spyware/viruses (clean) and also I have changed my sqlnet.ora files so that the variable sqlnet.authentication_services=(NONE) (previously, it was set to NTS) - this was recommended as a solution at a few web sites but did not resolve the problem.
Also, my OS is Windows XP Professional (SP2).
Hope that I have supplied sufficient information and look forward to a reply soon.

Thanks for the reply.
I have disabled Windows firewall in favour of Zone Alarm firewall.. However, even when disabling this firewall, I still get the same error message.
Searched the Registry but I can't find the key that you mention.. Do you think I should create a new key with this value? If so, whereabouts in the Registry should I create it? Also, what will making this modification do?
Regards.
