hi,

It seems very stupid question but ... can any one tell me if i dont want to recover my database when it is crashed than ...can i have my redobuffer size set to be Nil (i.e zero)?
If no then why ?

I'm afraid not, it's an essential component of the SGA.

A basic reason would be I guess, that you have not choice but to recover the database after an instance crash (if you want to open it for use again!!) it's in an inconsistent state.. STARTUP will do that for you automatically.

As far as I'm aware there is no workaround, not that I would want no recovery anyway.
