ORA-04043 object string does not exist
Cause: An object name was specified that was not recognized by the system. Following are possible causes:
An invalid name for a table, view, sequence, procedure, function, package, or package body was entered. Since the system could not recognize the invalid name, it responded with the message that the named object does not exist.
An attempt was made to rename an index or a cluster, or some other object that cannot be renamed.
Action: Check the spelling of the named object and rerun the code. (Valid names of tables, views, functions, etc. can be listed by querying the data dictionary.)

u can read this link also.
http://www.cryer.co.uk/brian/oracle/ORA04043.htm
did u create the datbase manually or using DBCA? ( if u created manually then did u run necessary scripts like catalog.sql )
Through which user did u login & try , i.e. is it SYS or any other user like SCOTT ?
check it out & post the problem with a excerpt from Oracle.
regards.,

Hi There,
I am also new to this field. Just for curiosity purposes, have you run the following scripts after opening the database?
1. As sysdba
?/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql
?/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql
Check for the location on this one
?/sqlplus/admin/catdbsyn.sql
2. As scott/tiger
?/demo/demobld.sql
These should get you started. Normally this error occurs when U have do not have proper previleges to access them or they are not existing in the schemas, they should. Any experts help appreciated. Thank you.

Others may be able to offer better advice, but in order to do so it will help if you can provide a copy and paste of your oracle session showing the user and the command you were doing along with the results. It could be a problem with the installation of dictionary, but need more info to know for sure.
Also, if you are brand new, I would suggest starting with version 10gR1 instead of 9iR2. Installation is quicker and easier, so is administration, lots of advantages really to going with the later version. And most of what you learn will be applicable to the lower 9i version should you be forced to work with it.
