Hello everyone,
I've just installed Oracle 9i (updated 9.2...) and the installation was correct, the database was created!
But after reboot the machine, i noticed many instances of Java.Exe (>35). The machine was too slow, so i started the task manager. I killed OMTSRECO and all java.exe instances. Of course, the database service didn't started. Why all this instances of java.exe are executing? What went wrong? Can someone help me? During the installation, the firewall (Norton Personal Firewall) was disabled. After boot, it's enabled automaticaly! Could it be the cause? The SO is Windows XP Professional - SP2.
Thk,
Mauricio.

Hi.
Ok, i did that and the result was:
1) Some services doesn't start at all, and i receive the following message: "It was not possible to start <servicename>. The service didn't answer to request to start..."
- Agent
- ClientCache
- TNSListener
- ServiceOraDesen (my named database instance)
2) Some services started normally:
- MTSRecovery
- PagingServer
- SNMPPeerEncapsulator
- SNMPPeerMasterAgent
3) I discovered that the HTTPServer is the one starting all the instances of Java.exe. It starts itself normally, but seems to me that something is in loop an keep starting an instance of Java.exe each cicle... I stoped the HTTPServer and the Java.exe instances stopped starting. But they stay in memory and i have to kill them with task manager.
Some idea?
Thx,
Mauricio.
