Hi

If using unix: check for dispatcher processes/shared_server process. Dispatcher (Dnnn)/Shared_server (Snnn). If no process, Database is in dedicated server mode.
If max_shared_server=0 then database in dedicated mode.

The client profile (sqlnet.ora file) can be configured with USE_DEDICATED_SERVER=on. This adds (server=dedicated) to the CONNECT_DATA section of the connect descriptor the client uses.

Also check V$ views V$DISPATCHER, V$SHARED_SERVER.
