ORA-19554: error allocating device, device type: SBT_TAPE, device name:

While usting Veritas NetBackup to Backup Oracle Database to Tape.
Getting this error.

post your OS,backup script and output of
RMAN>show all

Hi

I am using windows 2000 server in 10g.

this the scripts.....

backup device type sbt tag '%TAG' database include current controlfile;
backup device type sbt tag '%TAG' archivelog all;

insufficient information.
have you configured the tape systems?
Are channels properly allocated? You are not explicitly allocating the channels. SO it must be done in configuration for autoallocation.

post the output of show all( as already asked in previous posting).

should help you.

Above all, do you have the MML API for RMAN to talk to tapes?
This API needs a seperate license.

Do you have MML for Veritas installed / configured.
I dont think so.
without that, you cannot backup directly to tape.

I've got one problem same to yours.

First time, my database is configured backup directly to tape, and my scripts have had run successfully for a long time. 2 months ago, our tape was moved off because of expiration time hired. And I've just configure again to backup to disk.

This is RMAN's configuration lines now:

I am sure because the firs configuration in RMAN are such as 

CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO '%F';#default


And I did not know how I remove this line from RMAN's configuration lines, so that, I remove the #default from _SBT_.

Was I am wrong?

May you clarify more?
