Very true , Oracle is customised for each OS separately.

So u need a different-2 CD set to install for Linux/windows/unix/solaris .

But no worries regarding functionality , rest everything is same.

I have been searching for it. But now I am not able to trace it. Since you are in the business you would know better. So if you it is not possible then it might not be possible.
Thanks a lot.

But hopefully, soon some big GURUS are going to reply on this thread.

Hi

How do I access Oracle database from Linux?

Just look what they are saying under this topic heading. In this section itself. This is what I was asking about.

OK aparna,

nw i got u. That is a different scenario.

Suppose our Oracle database server is running on Linux box and Oracle Client is running on Windows then we can connect them very easily with the help Oracle net services.

U have to configure a Listener ( stores entries in Listener.ora) on Server and a Service ( stores entries in tnsnames.ora) on client machine . U can achieve this using

start--> Programs -->Orahome-->Configuration & Migration tool--> Net Manager.

But need to go through a documentation before doing it.
