I am getting

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17182], [1074617272], [], [], [], [], [], []
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

I am running 8.1.7.4 on HP-UX 11.0.

It creats this error on different sql statements and not sure whats causing it.

Any ideas?

chances are that a trace file gets created each time in the bdump (or possibly udump) directory. Check in there. If you can't easly trace the cause, open a metalink TAR.

Google brought me to this link. It says

If you are running Oracle 8174 , encounter this ora-00600 [17182] and the call stack indicates the following functions { kgherror kghfrf kkscls } then download and apply Patch:2281320 from Metalink. This issue has been fixed in Oracle Server 8.1.7.5 and later versions.

If you look up this patchnumber in Metalink it is about the error you encountered.

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel - mean db is down on the other side.

ORA-600 - Metalink the error message and open a TAR with oracle.
