Hi,
1.Delete your previos oci.dll if exists.
2.See if you have enough disk space where you want to install Oracle. It needs at least 1.5 GB and if you want to install sample schemas you should add another 1 GB there.
3.Your Oracle_home where you want to install Oracle should be something similar to : "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\".
Search OFA in google for more info.

-Let me know what is going on

thnx fo ru r immediate response
I deleted all oracle components. but now when i searched , i got one mtxoci.dll at C:\Windows\System32 and i cannot delete that.
Then abt hard disk space
i got complete 30 GB free...
as i told u already, i formatted the drive..
Earlier in my PC the destination location path was like
"D:\Oracle\ora92", i was trying with this ..
But now tried like E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\ , but giving same error, as check path name.

Anyway i will go to google now for OFA...
Thnx
Jerry..

Oh sorry,I did not read your post carefully! Embarassed
You want to install 9i client and I thought you are installing database. So where were we? Laughing
Your previous path is OK for 9i: "D:\Oracle\ora92\client\"
and reset ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_BASE and any other oracle related env variables.
Delete oracle folder from your c:\ drive and if it gives error reboot your machine and try again.

Ok, I already uninstalled everything..
By the way i forgot to tell u , i m trying to install from the copy of the Oracle 9i Client CD stored in my PC,
Is it because of that the problem comes???
If i install it from CD, whether it gave me the same problem or..

Let me know , if anyone knows it...

No I dont think so it depends on your installation stage.
try to specify the path for your install xml file.it should be something like products.xml (I don't recall exactly! )
Would you plz sending me exact error message?
-Keep touch

When I have run into windows installation problems I have generally found help by not only 1) uninstalling everything through universal installer and 2) going behind to all of the program files and other folders and deleting anything oracle related.

But also 3) going through regedit and deleting all oracle related registry entries appearing anywhere, which will possibly have names including oracle, orcl, and ora.

Also, in your situation, may want to check if you can install 10g client and connect to 9i database. If so, later version will probably install more smoothly. I found the 10g db install to run much nicer than the 9i version, although never tried with the client.

Objection! Do not use mix version client/server things.I personally used to do this and have many strange problems.use 9i client with 9i database and 10g client with 10g database.
I go further and say I doubt that mix version client/server is possible after 9i but I don't examine it myself.Believe my old experience Wink
