Hello.

Is it possible to upgrade 8.1.7 to 10g using Upgrade Assistant when 8.1.7 is started on a different machine?

I'm a beginner in Oracle administration Wink

Read the upgrade guides and documentation. Not only will they answer your specific question, but if you are new at this then you definitely should read before attempting anything.
