Have you set a different NLS_LANG on your client than on the server?

If so, take a look at MetaLink Note:166617.1.

BOOLEAN is not a valid SQL datatype, so perhaps that's your problem.

The note advises to set the client's language to the same NLS settings as the server. I cannot disclose MetaLink content just like that. It's Oracle official Support site and it's not for free.

To change NLS settings on a Wintel client:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/NLS_LANG: change the value to the same as the database.

Some suggestions:
from lazydba: install the JRE at it's default location if you didn't.

copy the installation disk(s) to the hard drive and change the oraparam.ini file.

In there you'll find a line:
JRE_LOCATION="....."
Change the value to: "the_path_of_your_first_disk/Stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.7.30/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre"

Verify the version number. This comes from dbForums.
