Hello all!
My situation:
I have a working Oracle Database Server 9.2.0.1 on Solaris 9.
Now i have to install Oracle 9i Application Server (9.0.2).
I have another computer for AS, but database (iasdb) for 9iAS
i want install on working Oracle Database server 9.2.
When i tried to install 9iAS, at first i must install
Infrastructure (which includes Oracle Database Server 9.0.1).
And i didn't find how to install Infrastructure
in working oracle database server without of installing oracle database server 9.0.1.

My question: How i can install Infrastructure (iasdb and other)
on working database server? Or it's impossible?

Best regards,
tcerg

Hi,

You can install 9iAS (90201) on the same server which is already having Database server(9201).

Install 9iAS in a seperate oracle_home other than your database oracle_home.When you start oracle installer for 9iAS, you will get an option to install infrastructure and iasdb is an integral part of 9iAS install. You cannot install it as 9201 database. You only get a 9013 database for iasdb. it won't allow you even to choose a new name other than iasdb. if you install 9iAS infrastructure you automatically get your iasdb (9013) installed.

Best regards,
Ramana

I seem to remember something in the installation which asks whether to use and existing database or create a new one for iasdb. Once you have chosen to create iasdb as part of installation, I don't think it asks you again even if you un-install and re-install. I think there is a metalink note on how to change it in one of the config files if you are re-attempting the installation.
