hi all,
I have inherited an 8i database with oracle apps version 11.
the database has a block size of 8k and from what I have read this indicates a max extents of 505 (unlimited has not been set)

I have just performed some exports on tables with rows=n and found a number of tables with max extents set > 505. my question is what will happen to these extents? are they used? are they ignored?

many thanks

Alan.

If my memory hasn't deteriorated, this would be restriction in oracle 7 and lower versions only. Above oracle 7, you can have unlimited extents.

Prior to Oracle 8, max extents was a function of the data block size. You can increase the max extents up to 2147483645.
