Hi,
I would like to create an Standby Database based on an Split Mirror ?
The environment is the following:
Oracle 10.1.0.4, Sun Solaris 9, Sun Cluster 3.1 and HDS Storage Box.
The Primary Database is nearly 400 GB and on Raw Devices.
Now I must create an backup and transfer it to standby side.
What is the best, easiest and fastest way to do it ?
Makes it sense to do an dd from the Production to the Standby ?
Does RMAN and the "duplicate target database for standby dorecover" support the RAW devices?
Need urgent help!
regards
Stefan

Put the database in BACKUP MODE, split the mirrors, END BACKUP, connect disks to target host.

No, use RMAN or split mirror backups (as described above).

Most definitely yes. RMAN can backup and restore files from/to RAW, Filesystem and ASM disks.
Best regards.

Hi Frank,
thanks for the infos.
One more question :
Which additional files do I need for a Data Guard installation
if I created it with Oracle Enterprise Manager ?
- Standby RedoLogs on the Primary and Standby Side ?
- What about additional Config files for Data Guard Broker ?
- Is the DG Broker integrated in Enterprise Manager ?
regards
Stefan
