Hi,
I have Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Win2K SP5. A partitioned table data has been compressed using COMPRESS clause at the partition level. This is a 9i feature. Data has been populated using APPEND hint in the INSERT clause which compresses the data. I can ascertain this by querying the dba_tab_partitions view and checking the number of blocks used by compressed data and uncompressed data.

Now the problem is when I export this table or schema or database, dump file size increases significantly. For eg for 1000 records of data uncompressed file size is 170MB whereas for the same data with compression file size becomes 872MB.

Also export file becomes unusable meaning once exported I cant even import the compressed table. It gives IMP-00020 error. Definitely something wrong with the exp dump file.

Anybody having any idea abt this problem.

Thanks
