Dear Sir,
I really need a help from everybody who good in Oracle !
When the time I login by entering the username and password, I received a error message as stated above !

My OS is Window XP home, and my oracle version is Personal Edition 8.1.6 !

Please give a help, please !

hi

i have seen your attachment ... i think in your case ...u r trying to connect as scott/tiger

but first of all your database should be started so for that try to connect as dba right

AS you are using 8i
enter user name: internal


hey i froget the default password for internal i think password it is manager or change_on_install

now after connecting you will get sql prompt their you do type startup.

SQL>startup

SQL> show SGA

from :- sunil
----------------------------------------------------------------
Note:- When SGA is not formed then we get above error ORA-01034
---------------------------------------------------------------

U need to startup oracle first.

Steps to follow:

1. Check for status of Oracle Service. It must be running. This check can be done in the Services panel for winXP.

2. Connect to oracle using "internal" as uid and "oracle" as password. "oracle" is default passwd for user "internal".

3. Startup the database. by giving command startup.
