Hi,
I made an export transportable tablespace but the export file (metadata) is corrupted. The datafiles copy is ok. Oracle tell me about a tool called DUL, not public released, as the only option left.
My question is: May I use something similar to DUL? I listened about a free project (jDUL - DUDE) but I was not able to find any release...
Thank in advance,
M.

However I think is still not possible to buy DUDE...
Thanks.

Hi,
The reason I'm not open sourcing jDUL/DUDE is because it can
be considered as a hacking tool ... that's why I'm working on
some routines to avoid abuse.
I'm guessing this is also the reason why Oracle is not making DUL available. It's a security thread.
I've also had offers to commercialise it...
Nothing is certain at this point - I will gladly help you out but you'll have to upload the datafile on my server.
Contact me at oracledude@pandora.be
cheers,
kurt

kurtvm,
as for my 2 cents, I do not believe that Oracle doesn't make DUL public for security concerns. If a hacker gets that far to rip off your datafiles, you're already in deep trouble, no matter if he has DUL available. On the other hand, it's not that difficult to find a copy of this program. Illegal? Of course, but would a cracker really care?
IMHO it's just a nice way to sell some support services that almost no one else will be able to offer.
Anyway, there's another self-made DUL-clone out in the wild. Have a look at http://www.anysql.net/en/mydul.html. It's in a rather early stadium and you'll probably end up trying uselessly without the SYSTEM tablespace available, but it may be worth your while.
Best regards

PRM-DUL is another option
PRM-DUL Data Unloader (ParnassusData Recovery Manager) is developed by JAVA, which can extract data from
oracle datafile without Oracle RDBMS software/instance. Since PRM walk around UNDO, little of data, which is transactional, can be missed.
PRM-DUL Data Unloader Can Save Your Data Even Oracle is Damaged
Sometimes, Oracle DB is damaged, but most of data block is find. With PRM, it can be extracted row by row. If the block is damaged badly, PRM will dump log.
PRM Can Extract TABLE/CLUSTER Data
PRM-DUL data unloader can extract TABLE/CLUSTER data. PRM is designed not to extract trigger, store procedure or view. Of course, PRM can save the SOURCE$. PRM can not recover index data , since it does not have meaning on this, unless it is IOT index.
HighLight of PRM-DUL recovery tools
Direct extract data your Table and Cluster from Oracle datafile
Revolutionary DataBridge Feature can send your data from source to destination without any manual work
If system tablespace exists, Dictionary Mode is fit for it, and provide tree diagram for data preview
If system tablespace was lost, PRM can also scan and review data
Oracle crash recovery can be skipped , PRM works around archivelog lost/corruption.
Even, part of data block is damaged, PRM can also recover available data
Tested from Oracle 9i to 12c
Based on JAVA development, at least JDK 1.4, without installation. Support OS: Unix (AIX, HPUX, Solaris), Linux (RedHat、OEL、SUSE) and Windows
Fully support ASM
