Hi,

Im about installing Oracle10g on a Windows 2003 Server and appreciate any help you can afford me.

The Server is provided with a RAID controller and two 146GB SCSI disks, which are in RAID 1 (mirrored).

Im indecisive about the disks and partitions.

Do you have any advices?guides? to partition the disks for best performance.

Hi,

If you have 2 disks that is mirrored, you end up with one usable disk. How you partition it would not make a big difference. If you want to improve I/O performance, consider adding more disks. Many smaller disks are usually better than a few larger ones.

I'd agree with Frank. Also, you may want to look for a document on the oracle (or otn.oracle) website referring to something called S.A.M.E. Stripe And Mirror Everything.

But basically if you only have two disks total in mirror, and don't have or won't get any others, then it won't matter at all what you do.
