I'm afraid you just provided a tiny bit too little info...
But, since you are here, could you tell me why my car won't start?

(see what I mean? We need lots more info to being able to help you out)

This may or may not be related to your problem, but get off of Windows NT to something more recent. Likewise for 8i. If you are going down every 15 minutes now anyway, then nobody should mind going down a little longer to do the upgrade.

Oracle 8.1.5 has been desupported as of 01-JAN-2001 (extended support up to 01-JAN-2004)

Oracle 8.1.6 has been desupported as of 31-OCT-2001 (extended support up to 01-OCT-2004)

Oracle 8.1.7 has no error correction support any more as of 31-DEC-2004, but will be supported (extended maintenance support until 31-DEC-2006) until 31-DEC-2007 through extended support.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has desupported windows on 31-Dec-2004 (even in extended support).

Try to check the oracle services whether they are running continiously or not(in the start->controlpanel->admin tools->services)

If the server is behind a fire-wall and you are connecting from outside the network, it is possible that the timeout period could have been set to 15 minutes & disconnecting the session. Try to check if its a network issue.
