I am trying to install oracle 9.2.0.1 on AIX 5.3.0.0
on IBM p series server.
Iam getting the following message when I run preroot.sh

Configuring Asynchronous I/O...
Asynchronous I/O is already defined
/var/ha/soc/hagsdsocket../rootpre.sh[338]: /usr/lpp/ssp/bin/spget_syspar: not found: No such file or directory.
Please make sure that the group services subsystem is active.
Aborting pre-installation procedure. Installations of Oracle may fail.

If I go on to run the runInstaller
I get the messgae:
Unable to set up inventory directory.
You may not have proper permissions.
after typing the correct group (ie oinstall or dba)

What could be the problem and how can I resolve this.

Hi,

i m not sure. i guess this is may be problem with group for second problem(runInstaller)

before installing oracle, u have to create separate user(oracle) and group (dba).
