I have unstalled Oracle 8i on a Pentium IV m/c with Windows XP as OS. However, when I restart the m/c, I am not able to start the Oracle Database Service from the services window. I dropped the existing service and recreated a new service using ORADIM. This also did'nt help my cause. Everytime I have to manually start the database using SVRMGRL.

Is it a bug ?? Am I failing in any of the configuration setup ?? Can anyone guide me the right search path to fix this up.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mahesh,

Thanks for the prompt response. However, I've tried all the ways (as mentioned in the URL), but in vain. I monitored the services which always hangs at "Starting" for the Database Service and never show "Started", whether kept in Automatic or Manual mode. I was thinking whether it is missing some files or invalid path somewhere.

Any suggestion is welcome.
