Would OCP Certification help in finding an Entry Level Oracle Programmer or DBA job [message #104917]

Would OCP Certification help me find an Entry Level Job as Oracle Programmer or DBA.
Has anybody found an Entry Level Job after completing OCP Certification. (Oracle Developer or DBA job.)
I don't want to invest lots of money and time if I can't find any job after completing OCP.

There is no doubt it would help. If you don't have any administration or programming experience then your going to have a tough time even with an Oracle certification. I'm a recently certified Oracle 8 DBA without experience and my job search has been a huge dissapointment.

I agree with you all that Oracle Certification will help in getting at least an entry level job but only when you have programming experience of 2-3 years. But in my case I am getting tough time even when I am Oracle Certified, Brainbench certified and having 3 years of Oracle Programming exprience. I am looking for an opening in Toronto.

Hi!
Absolutely Oracle Certification gonna help you in finding an Oracle dba job.The advantage is you will be unique among the other dbas those who dont have the o.c.p. So it is always advantageous to take an o.c.p. If you want to focus your carreer in Oracle.
But in order to get a job you should have atleast 2 to 3 years of experience as a oracle programmer or the oracle dba.

How did the people with 2+ years experience get their jobs in the first place...if you NEED 2+ years to GET the job?

Hell NO! Don't listen to ANYONE who tells you differently as they are blowing smoke up your arse. Its quite simple, there's no way to get a job as an entry-level Oracle DBA. Cerification or not, you're screwed. Sorry for the shitty news, but that's the way it is. You might start somewhere else in that company and maybe in a year or two move into a "Jr." or DBA "Baby sitter" position. But, if you're trying to get a job without experience, you're wasting your time.
