How to disable character conversion on Oracle Client ? [message #104222] Tue, 24 August 2004 06:53

Hello

Our Oracle 9 client runs on a W2k machine.

NLS_LANG of the client is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1

The database character set is WE8ISO8859P1.

Since the character set of the DB and the client are the same, the Oracle client is supposed not to perform any character conversion.

However, it does: it refuses to store the ascii code 134, for example, because this character is not defined in WE8ISO8859P1.

How can we disable the character filtering and conversion of the Oracle client ?

Thanks

Peter
