HI,
If you have successfully installed Personal Oracle 8i, can you please help me?
I'm trying to install Personal Oracle 8i on Windows 98. The problem is, when I try to connect through SQL Plus, I'm unable to successfully login. I gave scott, tiger, and host-string : 63.49.183.124. I also tried entering system, manager but it still didn't work.
I'm getting these error messages:
Before connecting to internet:
oRA 12560 - TNS Protocol Adapter error
After connecting to internet:
ORA 12535 - TNS Operation timed out
thanks.

xeone, are you trying to install 8i on Win98?
Windows 98 is desupported by MS.
Oracle 8.1.5 and 8.1.6 are desupported by Oracle.
Why don't you move on to the next platform.
If you are talking about a different OS or Oracle version, you're posting in the wrong thread.
Anyway:
1. Verify your system (make sure it meets the requirements)
2. Put the media in the correct drive or download it (Oracle9i and 10g available from OTN - Careful: Developers' license), extract it and hit install...
