Installing Oracle 8i on a dell gx260 [message #100480]

Hi Guys and girls I hope you can help.

I am having trouble installing Oracle 8i on our new dells. We just can't run the setup program eith erfrom the CD or the network.

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

This is a problem with Pentium IVs and the oracle Universal installer. Check out the link below.

This solution is on the Oracle site......It worked for me.
Copy the entire CD to a folder on your hard drive.
Go to stageComponents
oracle.swd.jre1.1.7.301DataFiles
Expandedjrewin32binsymcjit.dll
rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.ori
Problem solved.
