Hai,

I have Windows XP Home Edition as OS. when I am trying to load Oracle 8i, even setup.exe file is not responding.

Please help me out.

If your computer is pentium iv based machine then, follow the instructions provided in the site,

It worked for me on XP

Gives an error message String Encountered when char expected while installing the Sql*net8 Products.

Oracle does not support Windows XP HOME EDITION . You will need Windows XP Professional if you want to use Oracle (any version)
