to install oracle in linux i have download the java sdk and install it in /usr/local/ directory.
in some tutorail it is said that to link the java sdk with the java by the command "ln –s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1 /usr/local/java". but i didn't find any java folder under /usr/local. do i have to install java? is this to be done during installation of linux?

Hi,

The "ln –s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1 /usr/local/java" will create a symbolic links called "java" in your "/usr/local" directory that points to /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1
