Hi,
I m new to Linux as well as Oracle 9i. I m trying to install Oracle 9i Release 1 on my P-IV, 256 Mb & 40G machine. After mounting CD, I fired Command /mnt/cdrom/runInstaller. On this I received following error :
[[vijay@LINUX-SRV vijay]]$ Initializing Java Vertual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jre. Pleae wait...
/tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/../lib/i686/green_threads/libzip.so: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference (libzip.so)
Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
Could not create Java VM
I have set all Oracle Environment Variables before running this command. Please help.
Thanks.
Vijay

I experienced this problem when I was running the Database Configuration Assistant dbca on Red Hat 9 without setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL environment variable.
To rectify this problem, run the following command on Red Hat 9 and restart dbca:
oracle$ export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
For more information on this issue, see Red Hat 9.
thanks
