Is it possible to have the SID of the both databases to be replicated same.For eg can i have the master database SID as ORCL and the replication DB also as ORCL.

Hi,
There is no problem to have the same SID on both databases.
The global database names have to be different, because every database link has to be named as the corresponding global database name.
