Which takes longer?
A hot backup of a 78GB DB on Win2003 during off-peak hours?
or
An export of a 78GB DB on Win2003 with the DB shut down?
I'm inclined to think the hot backup would take longer...am I correct?
Thanks!

How can you take an export when the database is shutdown?
Am i missing something?

Depends on many many factors.
hardware, your backup method etc.
Studies show that export will take a longer time in VLDB environment ( and consider importing back!!)
