I will be implementing RMAN to do online backups. After performing a cold backup of the databse, can I remove all archive log files to tape or will RMAN need these files when it starts? I am unclear on this point.

Hello Bill,
I think The archives which was generated before the cold backup will not be necessary. If u r using RMAN for hot backups later then include the archives newly generated in ur backup set.
