After a routine bounce, I failed to bringup the db. No changed were done in the db before the bounce. Pl help.

SQL>
SQL> startup pfile=/export/home/orale/mydb/pfile/iinit.ora
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/export/home/orale/mydb/pfile/init.ora'
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
SQL>

My envoronment is: Sun solaris 64 bit Oracle 9.2.0.5

The error message clearly says, oracle is unable to find init< sid >.ora

>>SQL> startup pfile=/export/home/orale/mydb/pfile/iinit.ora

Unless orale is the real directory structure, your issue is just a typo.

Hi.

That was a typo in the forum only, But actually the line is as follows:

startup pfile=/export/home/oracle/mydb/pfile/iinit.ora

Pl suggest.

it is the same reply as before.
oracle is not finding the file in that directory.
Please make sure that there is a so called file.
in 9i by default only spfile is used.
and by default pfile should be in location $ORACLE_HOME/dbs.

try the default option using spfile

sql> startup
