Error while using Export and Import from oracle client [message #74184]

Hi,

I have oracle 9i client installed on my windows system and I am connecting to an oracle 9i database on an unix server in the same network.

When I try to export from the system prompt I get this error.

exp scott/tiger@server1 File=emp.dat Tables=emp Rows=yes Indexes=yes

Export: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Oct 1 18:01:10 2004

Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation.� All rights reserved.

Connected to: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

I am able to connect and work on the database schemas with ease. But when I try exporting the data I keep getting this error. Could anyone explain why this is happening.

always use the lower version of exp/imp against the higher version of exp/imp.
else
You need to install the higherversion views (9.2), in the lower version (9.0) ( which you may not want to)
from the higher version client,
login as sys and run the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catexp.sql

facing an error while importing dump into (oracle 9i)
eror no ORA 1400 <<null>>

how can i avoid the same.
