i try to create the database manually but following message is coming . pls help
create database TAR

ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced

Hi,
Just verify whether you have included any obsolete parameters in the init.ora file.
Are you sure you have included compatible parameter, UNDO_MANAGEMENT etc., in the init.ora file.
This happens because of parameter file only and also verify that the directories on filesystems specified for system, redo, datafiles, control files exist and writable by Oracle.
Please check alert.log file also for correct reason for the instance failure.

i discovered that my initSID.ora file incorrectly named the UNDO_TABLESPACE listed in my createdb.sql script. once i made sure that my UNDO tablespace was spelled exactly the same in both locations, my database was created and started up no problem. good luck.
