for export, incresase ur buffersize.
for import , first
remove/disable the indexes.
load the data
rebuild the indexes.
have the tablespace in nologgingmode.

You could try performing a Direct Path export/import as this would be considerably faster. And also try using the statically linked version of exp and imp executables, again inclined to be faster.
