hi,
I have a script for cold backup in which the user internal/password is used on 8.1.5. now i am planing to give training to our operator to run this script at specify time because of some reasions i can't Schedule the script to run auto.
can any one give me idea to grant privilage/role for a user who can only shutdown and statup the database. instate of 'internal' user.

Hi,
You need to belong to the Unix DBA group in order to use "CONNECT INTERNAL". Best would be to create a separate backup user (as you suggested), and assign the SYSOPER privilege to it.
BTW: You also need to setup a password file (set REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=EXCLUSIVE and use the "orapwd" utility to create the password file).
