I got this error when I try to bring up the database (version 8.1.6)

Total System Global Area 94076912 bytes
Fixed Size 69616 bytes
Variable Size 73437184 bytes
Database Buffers 20480000 bytes
Redo Buffers 90112 bytes
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
SVRMGR>
Server Manager complete.
ORACLE instance shut down.
SVRMGR>
Server Manager complete.

But the database can be up properly for the second time.

Can anyone tell what is the problem and what should I do?

where is the alert log file?? I am not sure which file.
