ORA-00256 [message #71876]

I/m new db adm. and I have a problem.
An oracle application's user receive the message from the oracle server:
ORA-00256 cannot translate archive destination string ''.
What's happening? Everything was all right until now.
Database works in NOARCHIVELOG mode.

check your initsid.ora for the following parameters
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST
LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT
and comment them off (since you ARE RUNNING DATABASE IN NOARCHIVELOG MODE).
toggle the database.
if this is not helping you,
Post your initsid.ora here and the exact error message
and also from your alert_< sid >.log

Thanks for advises, but are not util for my problem.
Theses lines are not in my "init<sid>.ora"
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST
LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT
And in "alert<sid>.ora", a recent message (with actual date) is not present.
