Trying to create a recovery job using Oracle8.1.7 storage manager. I got the following error message:

"The database is in 'No archive Mode' and 'Open'. The database must be mounted to perform a recovery".

Any idea?

ok ,
That mean y not using archive log ,,
just shut it immediate. and Restart in the Mount Mode only .

U can't recover until n unless ur db is in archivelog mode. U shutdown the db cleanly, mount it & switch in archivelogmode & then open it.
