ORA-03113 End-of-file on channel communication [message #66814]

i get this error when after connecting to oracle 9.0.1 running on W2k i run desc command from a client machine for any table in the database......please mail me if anybody has any clue on the error

pls have a look in the trace files /dump and report the exact errors.
is there an ORA-07445?? in dumps?

thanks.......there is a TNS-12640 error in the log file no other significant error.......

u are not connected to the database.
somehow it failed.
Mostly reason is authentication failure.
Make sure u have commented the following line in sqlnet.ora of the server.
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS)
