I am trying to configure host naming method.I set the priorities in names.directory_path and what elase should I do to configure client server architecture using this method.please reply me soon.

sir,
for the host naming method,these are the conditions
the default port no for the listener of the database is 1521
first check that one.then you have to configre in the client place.
if you are having win95/98 clients ,then go to the dos prompt
c:windows>edit hosts
it will open the file
in the file,you have to type your server name and tcp/ip address like
myserver 192.168.100.1
then save and exit
then give the command
c:>ping myserver
that's all.
