Is there any way off defining a maximum size from which oracle automatic creates a new alert log?

Or the alert log grows constantly for ever?

Thanks in advance for your answers !!

it will grow for ever.
it is not a good idea to restrict it with some hard-file size limit.

You can have a simple monitor to keep an eye on size and report you /rotoate the log if it execeeds your limit or rotate the logs in some timely fashion .

try some rotate log scripts.
You can use anything you want.
I googled and found this ( i would use much simpler one...)
