We have a cache hit ratio of approximately 84% for our database buffer cache. We are considering increasing the db_block_buffers parameter in our init.ora to improve this ratio. I do want to find out if any one can clarify something for me first: Do queries that do sorts use the database buffer cache, or does the "order by" command cause the database buffer cache to be bypassed. We are currently using Oracle 8.1.6 on a box running Solaris 8.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
